THE HAGUE, 27 September 2016. The International Court of Justice (ICJ), the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, has authorized the submission of a Reply by the Plurinational State of Bolivia and of a Rejoinder by the Republic of Chile in the case concerning Obligation to Negotiate Access to the Pacific Ocean (Bolivia v. Chile).
By an Order dated 21 September 2016, the Court fixed 21 March 2017 and 21 September 2017 as the respective time-limits for the filing of these written pleadings.
The Court made its decision taking account of the agreement of the Parties.
The subsequent procedure has been reserved for further decision.
