Marawi conflict in numbers: 19 civilians killed, 18,609 families displaced, 89 slain terrorists

A total of 19 civilians and 89 terrorists were killed while 18, 609 families were displaced, the latest update in the government's tally on military action in Marawi City, according to Malacañang on Wednesday.

Speaking at Wednesday's "Mindanao Hour," Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella gave an update on the recent developments regarding the armed conflict in Marawi City and elsewhere in Mindanao.

Abella said that as of May 30, the government security forces were able to rescue 960 civilians and recovered 81 high-powered firearms and 10 low-powered firearms.

A total of 21 government security forces were killed in action while 72 were wounded, he said.

The Palace spokesperson said that as of Wednesday, a total of P36,377,610.00 worth of augmentation assistance was provided to the affected families in ARMM.

Abella added that the augmentation assistance was provided by the department through DSWD-Field Office X and Field Office XII.

In terms of the families displaced due to the armed conflict, of the total 18,609 families or 92,628 persons displaced in Regions X and ARMM, a total of 2,722 families or 13,194 persons, according to Abella, were staying in 22 evacuation centers while 15,887 families or 79,434 persons were staying outside the centers.

He added that a Disaster Operation Center was established in Iligan City under the auspices of DSWD Field Office 10 to augment the operations of the DSWD ARMM.

The current focus of the government operations, according to Abella, were: cleaning of Marawi of militants still in the area, rescue of trapped residents, recovery of civilian casualties and victims, and assisting the local government units, non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations on relief operations.
