China orbits experimental scientific satellite Shijian-11-06
China has orbited its experimental scientific research satellite Shijian-11-06, launched on board of Long March-2C (Changzheng-2C) carrier rocket on Monday morning, Xinhua news agency reported.
The carrier rocket was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern Gobi desert at 10:58 Beijing time (2:58 GMT).
The Shijian-11-06 was developed and constructed by China Spacesat Co. Ltd under the supervision of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and its mission in the orbit is to conduct scientific experiments.
This was the 189th launch of the Long March rockets. China became the fifth nation to achieve independent launching capability on April 24, 1970, when the country put into orbit its first satellite Dong Fang Hong 1 (The East is Red) on board of its Long March rocket.
