May 14: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 13, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 3 new cases of confirmed infections (all are indigenous cases, 2 in Liaoning province and 1 in Jilin province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 6 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 387 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on May 13, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 1,692 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,632 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 60 confirmed cases (including 3 in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on May 13, the National Health Commission had received reports of 82,929 confirmed cases and 4,633 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 78,195 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 101 confirmed cases (including 9 in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. So far, 738,262 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 5,291 are now under medical observation.

On May 13, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 12 new asymptomatic cases (including 1 imported case). 49 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 2 imported cases) and 1 (indigenous case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on May 13, 712 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 36 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 13, 1,535 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,050 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 1,008 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 45 in Macao (43 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 440 in Taiwan (7 had been dead and 375 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
